Barbara Ann West

 Mrs. Barbara Ann West, 83, of Hodges passed away Sept. 6, 2023, at NAMC-Florence. Barbara was born Aug. 23, 1940 to Oscar and Verlie Shewbart. She enjoyed sewing quilts, watching Alabama football and listening to gospel music.  She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Taylor and Renee Rye (Tim); 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Jimmy Shewbart and Marie Shotts (Jimmy); special friends, Linda Sims and Gloria Lemay. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell West; son, Tim West; and great-grandson, Clay Randolph. Funeral services were held Sept. 9th at Mt Olive Baptist Church with Bro Ritchie Emerson officiating with burial in adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Emerson, Salomon Hernandez, Brian Purser, Camron Randolph, Bryant Rye and Jacob West.
