HALEYVILLE — A local man was killed when a tractor ran over him in a field off of Thornhill Road near Haleyville in Marion County Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 14, according to the Craft Fire Department.
Eddy Hulsey, 76, reportedly died from injuries suffered in the incident, which occurred at 6498 County Highway 19, also known as Thornhill Road, less than a mile from the Craft Fire Station, first responders said.
“He was off (the tractor), and it started rolling. He tried to go get it, and when he jumped on it, somehow it slung him off,” noted Craft Fire Chief Ray Cantrell, adding the tractor then ran over Hulsey’s chest.
Cantrell responded to help set up a landing zone at the Craft Fire Station for a medical helicopter flight, he said.
Brilliant Fire also responded with a side-by-side unit, which first responders used to remove Hulsey from the field, Cantrell added.
Also responding were the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Marion County EMS, which transported Hulsey less than a mile to the fire station, where medics administered CPR, according to Cantrell.
