Free weather radio giveaway


Weather radios will be given out this Saturday in Bear Creek, Brilliant and Hackleburg.

MARION COUNTY — Households in the towns of Bear Creek, Brilliant and Hackleburg will be eligible to receive one free Midland Weather Radio while supplies last on Saturday, April 13, during giveaways in each town.
The Marion County Emergency Management Agency has partnered with the Northwest Alabama Resource Conservation and Development Council to allow 100 radios to be provided at each location on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The event will occur in a drive-thru fashion, with one radio provided per vehicle (household).
Brilliant’s giveaway will take place at 9 a.m. at 1060 Main Street.
Hackleburg’s giveaway will occur at noon at 415 Walker Street.
Bear Creek’s radio giveaway is happening at 3 p.m. at 341 Main Street.

of giveaways
EMA Director Eric Terrell said he is excited about all three of the giveaway events on April 13.
“We’re excited to visit all these communities and give away a few radios,” he said. “Weather radios are the most reliable way to receive weather alerts and warnings.
“We’re looking forward to getting these radios into the citizens’ hands. We know we won’t be able to reach everyone, but we encourage everyone else--if you’re not one of the lucky ones who is able to get by and get a free one--go buy one and bring it by the EMA office, and we will program it for you.”
He noted this year marks three times the grant partnership has made the free radios possible.
