Aggies, Lady Raiders win state track meet

The Marion County Lady Red Raiders and the Hamilton Aggies have each won their respective state track meets, hosted from Thursday, May 2, through May 4.
Hamilton traveled to Gulf Shores to compete in the 4A-7A meet, while all other Marion County teams traveled to Cullman for the 1A-3A meet.
The Aggies won the 4A state boys’ meet with 94 points, over Brooks in second place with 56 points and Anniston in third with 54 points.
The Lady Red Raiders won with 84 points over Marengo with 55 points and Winterboro with 54 points.
Also in the 1A meet, Phillips’ girls placed 18th with 14 points and Brilliant’s girls finished in 23rd place with eight points. Marion County’s boys placed fifth with 40 points. Hackleburg’s boys placed 7th and Brilliant placed 24th.
In 3A, Winfield’s boys also placed fifth with 40 points.
Several athletes finished in the top three in their events, and some came in just shy of the podium.
Marion County’s Bekah Junkin placed fourth in the 1A girls’ 800-meter run with a time of 2:43.51.
Marion County’s girls’ 4x400-meter relay team placed third in 4:40.31.
The Lady Raiders won the 4x800 in 11:29.87.
Marion County’s Lily Robinson and Alecia Shack-Donaldson placed third and fourth, respectively, in girls’ high jump, both clearing 4’8.”
Marion County’s Caroline Pyron and Lilly Franks placed second and third in 1A girls’ javelin, with Pyron clearing 8” and Franks clearing 7’6.”
Marion County’s Anna Prather placed second in girls’ long jump with a total distance of 15’4.25.”
Brilliant’s Karagan Stanford placed second in 1A girls’ javelin throw with a total thrown distance of 106’4.”
Tye Madison of Marion County placed second in 1A boys’ high jump by clearing 6’2.”
In 1A boys’ pole vault, Madison and Jose Luis took the top spots by clearing 12’ and 11’6.”
Hackleburg’s Luke Herring won 1A boys’ shot put with a total distance of 52’5.25.” Herring also won discus with 151’6.”
In the 3A meet, Winfield’s Kane Hendrix won boys’ triple jump with a distance of 37’10.”
Winfield’s Sean Wyers won boys’ 3A discus with a distance of 136’2.5.”
Winfield’s Declyn Morgan just missed the podium with a fourth place finish in boys’ 3A javelin with a distance of 165’05.”
Winfield’s Alex Aldridge won boys’ pole vault by clearing 11’6,” and Dylan Benton placed third, clearing 10’6.”
Down at the 4A state meet, Hamilton’s Meg Wiginton won the 4A girls’ 300-meter hurdles in 45.11 seconds.
Hamilton’s Kyra Casey won 4A girls’ long jump with a final distance of 17’06.75.”  Casey also won triple jump with a distance of 36’5.75.”
Christian Shipp placed third in boys’ high jump after clearing 6’4” (or 1.93m).
Dylan Segraves placed second in the boys’ 4A 100m and 200m dashes.
Hamilton’s Elijah Dollar and Hayden Ables finished in second and third place in the 110m hurdles in 14.78 and 15.55 seconds, respectively.
Ables also placed second in the 300 meter hurdles.
Hamilton’s boys placed third in the 4x100.
In pole vault, Jake Webb and Elijah Robinson won first and second, clearing marks of 15’6” and 13’6.”
