Right, Judd Tucker has been approved to be moved from the police department to the fire chief position in Winfield.
WINFIELD — The Winfield City Council voted to approve the transfer of Judd Tucker from the police department to fill the soon-to-be open position of chief at the fire department during its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Stovall had announced his retirement at the previous meeting on Aug. 19.
The council also approved hiring Jason Matthew Young to the police department. According to Police Chief Brett Burleson, Young has worked part time for Sulligent and is already APOST certified. The council also approved that recommendation.
The council then voted to solicit bids for a sanitation truck loan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the council canvassed the election results and certified them, also counting provisional and absentee ballots.
City Councilman Tim Garrison was re-elected to his city council seat, while Miles Miles won the race for place #3 and Brad Burroughs was elected to council place #5.
Miles won the seat currently held by Keith “Termite” Pollard, and Burroughs won the seat Larry Reese left to run for mayor. Their terms begin in November.
Finally, the council opened fuel bids from two businesses: Aziz Oil, Inc. and Midstates Petroleum.
Midstates had the lowest bid at $0.12 over rack price, compared to Aziz’s $0.13, so the city accepted Midstates’ bid.
The next city council meeting was held yesterday, Sept. 9. The agenda was set to include a fire department repositioning and solicitation for the street sanitation truck loan.
