HAMILTON — Clayton Buccaneer Homes  in Hamilton recently celebrated “National Women in Construction Week,” by recognizing their female workers with free commemorative T-shirts and a group photo.
Officials with the company noted they honor their women workers annually with the shirts and photos to celebrate who they are and what they do.
“One of our core values is to be a home, a place where everyone belongs, so we love to celebrate women in construction,” officials noted.
National Women in Construction Week is held annually during the first week in March. The recognition week was started in 1960 and spearheaded by the National Association of Women in Construction.
The nationwide movement continues to grow, celebrating achievement, inspiring leaders and promoting gender equality and inclusion.
This year’s theme is “Level Up. Build Strong.” Clayton Buccaneer Homes has 85 women employed in its Hamilton factory in either production or its office.
Jobs include workers in the departments of: molders and cleaners, drywall and painting; cabinetry and drawer making; interior and exterior installation (includes insulation); and office staff, which includes drafting, costing, customer service, accounting and human resources.
Just like costing, where those in charge know how much to the penny it costs in nails to build a house, each of these jobs has multiple aspects.
Officials are excited to take this opportunity to recognize the women who work so hard to help them create the best homes in the business.
“If there’s a department, there’s a woman in it making an impact,” they concluded.
