Northwest Alabama Ministerial Association holds elections

The Journal-Record is excited to share outcomes from the Northwest Alabama Ministerial Association's recent elections, as one of our own has been re-elected as president. Former JR sports editor and current Pastor Nick Ray will lead the association for a second term for the 2026-2028 period.
He is joined by Pastor Deric Rea, who will also continue serving in his role as vice president for the next two years. Their dedication, leadership and continued commitment help ensure stability and vision for the association’s future.
While announcing Sister Annie Riggin had been elected to the vital role of secretary, the association also expressed gratitude for the invaluable service and contributions made by former secretary Sister Kim Smith during her term. They noted Smith had declined a nomination for a second term.
Sharing more information on their officers for the upcoming term, the association noted:
• NAMA President Nick Ray is a native of Marion County, who brings a wealth of experience to the association. He currently serves as the lead pastor of Sunnyside Church of God, located just outside Tuscumbia, where he is known to consistently inspire his congregation and community.
• NAMA Vice President Deric Rea is also a highly respected figure in the ministerial community. He is the lead pastor of the Winfield Church of God, where his guidance and dedication help advance the association’s shared mission.
• NAMA Secretary Annie Riggin has been described as “a dynamic force in ministry,” serving at the Holy Dominion Church in Winfield. Her energy, organizational skills and commitment to service are noted as being a tremendous asset to the association’s executive team.
Under the collective guidance of this team, the association hopefully anticipates a term filled with spiritual growth, strengthened inter-church cooperation and impactful community outreach throughout Northwest Alabama.
They also request association members to please mark their calendars for their next important gathering. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m., at the Cedar Landing restaurant, located off Highway 129 in Winfield.
They note a detailed agenda for this session, including key discussion points and collaborative opportunities, will be circulated to all members shortly. Association leaders state they eagerly await everyone’s participation as they plan for an impactful future.
